There was an article this past weekend about the upgrades being made by local county animal control agencies. These agencies work closely with county animal adoption agencies and rescue organizations. The article stated the number of stray cats and dogs has markedly increased in the past year.
Last week they received portable dog pens made up of eight individual solid body dog crates that fit onto a pick-up truck bed. This will allow them to better handle the rising animal calls. Also, with the separated dog crates, these dog pens are more comfortable and have a ventilation system that runs through each of the dog crates.
Other improvements at their facility include five separate pasture areas totaling ten acres. They’re working on replacing the old stationary dog pens that date back to the l970′s and hope to have that complete by mid 2009. They also have twelve new cages for adoptable cats.
It’s great to see county governments putting money forth to take care of animals in need.
Till next time …
