Dog Sanctuary

I read an article over the weekend about a non profit place in Pennsylvania called Paw Prints Dog Sanctuary.  It’s on five acres in rural Perry County.  So what’s so cool about this place you ask?  Well, in addition to housing senior dogs from rescue groups that need homes, they house dogs of Pennsylvania military personnel on deployment elsewhere.  For free!

There’s a new building to house the Canine Corps with pet beds all around.  Owners must have exhausted all other venues to be eligible to leave their furry family member due to space limitations.  But they know they’ll have large dog beds to relax in and they’ll be well taken care of.

The dogs can leave their pet beds and go through doggie doors to outside runs where they can play.  No cats or cat beds to be found here, just dogs, blankets and large dog beds.  It’s one less thing a military owner has to part with when deployed, because they know they’ll get them back.  I thought this was a great service to our military personnel.

Till next time …
