I recently read an article about Clark County in southern Nevada. A terrible event occurred there this past weekend when officials found a dog hanging from a tree. I can’t even fathom this really … it’s so horrible!
Officials say this type of animal cruelty isn’t what’s typically seen. More often they see dogs left behind in back yard dog pens or put in dog crates and left in dumpsters. This is termed animal abandonment. I guess leaving poor defenseless dogs, in dog pens or dog crates, without food or water to starve to death doesn’t quality as animal cruelty in their laws, but it sure does in mine. The article does state the ability to locate an owner or not is what changes the terminology.
It’s all abuse and neglect … we can agree on that. People who don’t have the wherewithall to love and maintain dogs properly, utilizing dog pens and dog crates appropriately, just shouldn’t have them. It’s a human failure, not the dogs.
Till next time …
