Pepper’s pet beds came in real handy this weekend. It was a sunny Saturday morning and Pepper, our cat, was lounging in one of her cat beds. Sugar, our lab, was asleep in one of her large dog beds and all was at peace with the critter world.
Pepper does a big yawn and stretch before proceeding out to the screened-in lanai. She notices something moving by the screen and goes to investigate. She leans against the screen with a full furr face and watches a baby frog jumping up and down against the screen. The frog then starts to jump toward her and eventually lands on one of her outstretched paws.
You’ve never seen a cat move quicker. Pepper leaped into the air and ran to her outside cat beds for hiding. Sugar even roused a bit from her large dog beds to see what was happening. Of course, I had to laugh. Then I caught the baby frog in a cup and took it down to the lake so it could live.
That same evening, the critters were in their pet beds … or so I thought. Pepper came bounding through her cat door, walked over to me in the den and promptly spit something on the carpet. It was another baby frog! She was so pleased with herself that I had to congratulate her even though a live frog in the house wasn’t a good thing. Her reputation as a huntress had been saved!
Till next time …
