Have you seen the dog pens made by Shelter Logic? I think they actually call them kennels but they’re really big dog pens. They come in four different sizes which include two “tall” sizes. I’ve seen them in combination with dog crates and without dog crates. There’s plenty of room for Fido to romp around even with the use of dog crates inside. They’re fully covered and have steel mesh panels all around for great air flow.
Of course, these aren’t cheap but they’re very functional. They give your dogs room to move around, keep them contained and provide shelter all in one product. The use of dog crates inside that I’ve seen have been the fully enclosed rather than the wire dog crates. These dog crates then provide an additional level of shelter in case of bad weather.
