More on Pet Allergies

If you suffer from pet allergies but would rather suffer than not have your furry friend, here are some things you can do to help reduce your symptoms.

As previously mentioned be sure to bathe your pets weekly along with their pet beds.  Wipe out the pet strollers after each use, or wash the interior padding of the pet strollers if they are the removable type.  Wipe out the dog carriers or cat carriers or anything your pets travel in after each use.

Use a high efficiency HEPA air cleaner in your home.  These are good at filtering dust and dander.  I have a HEPA system in my main air handler and it really makes a difference.

If you can manage it, may an allergy-free area in your house.  The bedroom is best since you sleep there and then absolutely don’t let your pet in that room.  There are also special mattress covers for allergy sufferers that don’t allow allergen particles to permeate them.

Till next time …
