As we discussed earlier, you need good dog beds, preferably heated dog beds. You should also elevate food and water dishes for larger dogs. We talked about ramps and stairs. If your dog is an inside dog, you might invest in carpet runners on slick floors.
Keeping your dog’s toenails clipped will reduce them catching on carpet and potential injury. Rearranging furniture can confuse aging pets, so try to minimize this. If you have to relocate dog beds, that’s okay, but leave the big stuff where it is.
Try softer foods so it’s not so hard on aging teeth. More frequent walks help with bladder issues. Sugar gets off her dog beds pretty fast for her age when she knows there’s a walk involved.
Till next time …
