Many folks think that dogs need to run free without any fences or constraints. However, if a dog is left to his own without supervision, he may never become socialized.
Dogs need direction instinctually. Remember, there was a pack leader who provided this and we humans take on that role when we get a dog. If you have outdoor dogs and have to leave them alone, be sure to put them in dog pens or exercise dog pens.
For indoor dogs, having indoor dog crates for dogs who aren’t given the run of the house works well. Always take into consideration the size of your dog when purchasing dog pens or dog crates so there’s room to stand and turn around.
Securing our pets when we’re not around keeps them safe and helps them in their socialization skills.
